Je laisse les autres descendre et affronter cette masse informe d’estropiés, de mutilés, de jeunes femmes tenant dans leurs bras des petites crevettes rougies par les rayons brûlants du soleil –des nouveaux nés aux visages de petits vieux-. </span></p><p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: medium; color: #333399;">L’air est presque irrespirable tant la chaleur est intense, les bruits de la ville nous assourdissent et l’agitation est totalement frénétique. Ça grouille de partout à en donner le vertige ! Durant plus de trois heures, nous allons arpenter ainsi les rues de la ville rose, nous mêler à cette foule colorée, humer des odeurs de fritures qui se mélangent avec celles des égouts bouchés. Si, par malheur, on s’arrête devant une échoppe pour observer un bibelot, aussitôt le marchand apparait et on ne peut plus s’en débarrasser. Il vous suit sans répit, revenant à la charge pour essayer de vendre sa marchandise malgré votre refus. Alors il faut se fâcher, élever la voix pour qu’enfin il fasse demi-tour… Mais on le retrouve bientôt quelques minutes plus tard, revenant à la charge. C’est insupportable !</span></p><p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: medium; color: #333399;">Quand enfin on rejoint le car, on retrouve alors toute la horde des estropiés qui reprennent leur harcèlement pour obtenir quelques pièces. Ils se bousculent, s’engueulent entre eux et vous tirent par les vêtements. Que faire ? Si vous donnez quelque chose à l’un, les autres vont se ruer sur lui et vont devenir encore plus pressants. Un des participants du groupe a des gâteaux secs qu’il commence à distribuer, mais très vite il est totalement submergé par l’afflux des mains tendues qui le tirent par sa chemise. Il trouve alors refuge dans le car.</span></p><p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: medium; color: #333399;">J’ai repris ma place près de la vitre, au fond du car et là, je les observe, tous ces malheureux qui continuent de quémander en tapant dans les vitres … Bientôt je détourne la tête, j’ai du mal à supporter leurs regards, je me sens coupable. Coupable de quoi au juste ? D’être née dans un pays où l’on ne meurt plus de faim depuis longtemps ? Mais, de fait, ce n’est pas à moi de me sentir coupable, mais plutôt à ce pays lui-même qui n’est pas capable de subvenir aux besoins de sa population. Tant que la religion sera omniprésente, les choses ne risquent pas d’évoluer rapidement. On verra encore longtemps de grosses vaches bien nourries se prélasser au milieu des rues et de pauvres gens crever de faim sur les trottoirs. Hier soir en me couchant, j'ai repensé à ce voyage qui fut extrêmement pénible : une attente de 6 heures à l'aéroport de Munich, puis un vol qui m'a paru interminable jusqu'à Delhi. Arrivés tôt le matin, nous sommes tout de suite pris en charge par le guide et nous commençons les visites sous une chaleur de 45° sans avoir la possibilité de se changer!</span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: medium; color: #333399;">Je suis très vite malade, recherchant désespérément des toilettes à chaque arrêt. Nous ne rejoindrons l'hôtel qu'à 20 heures le soir. Je pense qu'on ne revient jamais de ce pays tout à fait indemne, pris entre fascination et répulsion. Pour ma part la répulsion fut quand même la sensation la plus forte. On dit que les plus belles roses poussent sur un tas de fumier, c'est ce que je me suis dit en voyant le Taj-Mahal.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: medium; color: #333399;">Et puis toute cette foule qui grouille, telle une armée de cloportes, ces estropiés qui essaient de vous accrocher par les mollets au moment où vous passez près d'eux ... Ces femmes qui exhibent leurs gamins à moitié morts pour vous extorquer quelques roupies ... J'en ai même vu qui pinçaient les mômes pour les faire pleurer au moment où l'on passait.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: medium; color: #333399;">Mon père s'était arrêté à Bombay lorsqu'il était parti en Indochine. Il en gardait lui aussi un affreux souvenir, nous racontant comment des gamins, à la descente des bateaux, venaient vendre leur petite sœur aux marins.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: medium; color: #333399;">Bon, j'arrête sinon je vais m'attirer les foudres des amoureux de ce pays. Discrètement je la photographiai. Elle m'aperçut bientôt et se leva péniblement, venant s'accrocher à mon bras pour obtenir une pièce. Il était évident qu'elle ne devait pas manger souvent à sa faim. Je lui ai donné quelque chose, bien sûr, sa condition misérable m'ayant profondément perturbée. Aussitôt elle me prit les mains pour les embrasser, me montra du doigt le ciel, me faisant ainsi comprendre que j'étais bénie des dieux. Foutu pays quand même où la religion, qui est présente partout, assujettit totalement les êtres. Que peut-elle espérer, cette vieille femme, si ce n'est une meilleure vie dans sa prochaine réincarnation ? Je m’en serais bien passée de cette balade plutôt chaotique, mais je n’avais guère le choix. Me voici donc sur le dos du pachyderme en compagnie de Véronique. Une demi-heure de secousses avec l’impossibilité de prendre des photos. À mi-chemin le cornac commence à nous réclamer un pourboire.</span></p><p><span style="font-size: medium; color: #333399; font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;"><em>Oui, oui, ça va venir, du calme !</em></span></p><p><span style="font-size: medium; color: #333399; font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;">On comprend son empressement en arrivant. Les policiers sont là à surveiller que les cornacs ne réclament pas à grands cris quelques roupies.</span></p><p><span style="font-size: medium; color: #333399; font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;">Amber est situé à 10km au nord-est de Jaipur. Le village est dominé par une impressionnante forteresse. Le temps que le groupe s’affaire dans la boutique, je m’installe à l’extérieur du magasin. La cour est remplie de statues diverses, en bois ou en bronze, de belles antiquités probablement destinées à l’exportation. J’observe également un groupe de travailleurs qui transportent des briques sur la tête. Ils passent et repassent devant moi, le visage couvert de poussière et de sueur. Nous sommes accueillis par un musicien indien âgé de soixante-dix ans, en tenue somptueuse. Ses moustaches tombent jusqu’au sol. Avant de prendre la direction de Jaipur, nous visitons deux autres havelis dans Mandawa. Le car est à peine arrêté que déjà voici une horde de gamins qui se précipitent pour nous servir de guide. Ils nous accompagneront tout le temps de la visite, cherchant par tous les moyens à obtenir quelques roupies pour un service qui est bien dérisoire :</span></p><p><span style="font-size: medium; color: #333399; font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;"><em>Regardez madame, un paon !</em> ou alors : <em>attention madame, une crotte de vache !</em> ou bien encore : <em>attention madame, il y a une marche !</em> comme si on n’avait pas vu.</span></p><p style="text-align: center;"><img id="media-3009348" style="margin: 0.7em 0px;" title="" src="http://tinouaujourlejour.hautetfort.com/media/00/00/4266140402.jpg" alt="inde, rajasthan, jaipur" /></p><p><span style="font-size: medium; color: #333399; font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;">Et puis viennent ensuite les professionnelles, celles qui ont revêtu leur plus beaux atours et qui font semblant de passer dans la rue par hasard. On a envie de les photographier et elles semblent accepter complaisamment. Mais gare à vous si après vous ne donnez pas quelques roupies, elles se transforment vite en tigresses redoutables ! Elles vous harcèlent jusqu’à ce que, à bout de force, vous sortiez votre porte-monnaie. Et, dès que vous leur tendez un ou deux billets, elles vous les arrachent des mains brutalement, leur sourire disparait aussitôt et elles s’envolent dans la nature. Vous avez l’étrange impression d’avoir été pris pour un pigeon. Bref, c’est l’Inde.</span></p><p><span style="font-size: medium; color: #333399; font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;">Mon chaperon devait avoir une douzaine d’années environ. Quand je lui demandai pourquoi il n’était pas à l’école, il me répondit que les cours ne commençaient qu’à 10h30. J’en doute un peu… Il est surement plus lucratif pour sa famille de l’envoyer ainsi au-devant des touristes. À la fin de la journée, il ramènera quelques roupies supplémentaires qui permettront d’acheter de quoi manger.</span></p><p><span style="font-size: medium; color: #333399; font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;">Bon, en route pour Jaipur, à environ 167km plus au sud. Nous y arrivons vers 13h et aussitôt le car nous conduit à l’hôtel où nous déjeunons, aussitôt installés. </span></p><p><span style="font-size: medium; color: #333399; font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;">Jaipur, surnommée la ville rose, est la capitale du Rajasthan et compte environ 2,5 millions d’habitants. C’est une ville relativement récente puisque sa construction débuta au début du XVIIIe siècle sous l’impulsion du maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II. <img id="media-3009356" style="float: right; margin: 0.2em 0px 1.4em 0.7em;" title="" src="http://tinouaujourlejour.hautetfort.com/media/00/00/40072488.jpg" alt="inde, rajasthan, jaipur" />Pourquoi ville rose ? Tout simplement parce qu’une partie des édifices ont été construits en grès rose et d’autres ont été peints en rose en 1875 à l’occasion de la visite du prince de Galles. Une ville construite à l’intérieur de remparts avec de larges avenues, de la verdure. Elle fut inaugurée en grande pompe en 1733.</span></p><p><span style="font-size: medium; color: #333399; font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;">Nous débutons les visites en plein cagnard ! Ce lieu réunit des instruments de mesure ressemblant à des sculptures abstraites. Je n’ai fait aucune photo –hormis ce groupe de Sikhs- et je n’ai rien écouté des explications, trop anéantie par la chaleur. Oui, oui, il y a toujours un Maharaja à Jaipur ! Certains édifices de ce vaste ensemble ont été ouverts au public, tels que le hall des Audiences, le musée des armes et un pavillon rassemblant quelques magnifiques costumes d’apparat. Finalement je me retrouve à prendre un verre sous un arbre en compagnie de Françoise. Pour certains inscrits au patrimoine mondial de l'humanité. En voici quelques uns:</p> <p>Dans Delhi en plus du fort rouge (pas visité) il y a le Qutb Minar, un minaret de 72m et 379 marches, l'un des plus haut du monde et réalisé entre le XIIe et XIVe. Il est très beau avec ses pierres rouges et oranges finement sculptées, dommage que l'on ne puisse y monter. Autour se trouvent les ruines d'un complexe musulman dont la première mosquée d'Inde.</p> <p><img src="http://lesvoyagesoderik.hautetfort.com/media/02/01/1052386950.jpg" alt="chittorgah.jpg" style="border-width: 0; float: right; margin: 0.2em 0 1.4em 0.7em;" id="media-1647801" />L'inde comprends de nombreux forts, ceux-ci sont, comme chez nous, érigés au sommet d'éperon rocheux et contrairement aux notres les fortifications n'entourent pas seulement le fort mais tout l'éperon rocheux voir toute la ville. C'est assez impressionant pour Chittorgarh avec les sept portes à franchir pour arriver dans la fort. Celui-ci est en ruine mais il reste de beaux temples et surtout la tour de la victoire.</p> <p> </p> <p><img src="http://lesvoyagesoderik.hautetfort.com/media/00/00/169586834.jpg" alt="Dilwara.jpg" style="border-width: 0; float: left; margin: 0.2em 1.4em 0.7em 0;" id="media-1647805" />Près de la ville du Mont Abu il y a un ensemble de temple jaïn: les splendides temples de Delwara. Ceux-ci sont de marbre blanc dont les murs et plafonds sont scuptés avec une extrème délicatesse. C'est vraiment sublime et impressionnant. Dommage que l'on ne puisse photographier.</p> <p><img src="http://lesvoyagesoderik.hautetfort.com/media/00/01/1327750948.jpg" alt="Jodhpur.jpg" style="float: right; margin: 0.2em 1.4em 0.7em 0px; border-width: 0px;" id="media-1647811" />Il y a de nombreux palais en Inde, celui qui m'a le plus plu est celui de Jodhpur avec ses magnifiques décorations.</p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p><img src="http://lesvoyagesoderik.hautetfort.com/media/01/02/595539304.jpg" alt="Jaipur.jpg" style="border-width: 0; float: left; margin: 0.2em 1.4em 0.7em 0;" id="media-1647813" /></p> <p>Jaïpur, la ville rose qui pourait être vraiment très belle bien restaurée avec ses arcades de boutiques et ses habitations en terracota.</p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p><img src="http://lesvoyagesoderik.hautetfort.com/media/01/02/307766144.jpg" alt="Fatehpur.jpg" style="float: right; margin: 0.2em 1.4em 0.7em 0px; border-width: 0px;" id="media-1647817" />Fatehpur Sikri, un palais de grès rouge qui n'a été occupé que pendant une douzaine d'années à cause du manque d'eau de l'endroit. Il est plus massif par rapport aux autres palais quand même impressionnant.</p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p><img src="http://lesvoyagesoderik.hautetfort.com/media/01/00/1550271937.jpg" alt="Taj.jpg" style="border-width: 0; float: left; margin: 0.2em 1.4em 0.7em 0;" id="media-1647822" /></p> <p>Et bien sur le Taj Mahal, ce mausolée de marbre blanc incrusté d'onyx, de tourmaline et d'autres pierres semi-précieuse est un des plus beau monument du monde, dommage qu'il n'ait pas fait beau quand j'y étais.</p>
